Retry an audio upload without losing the recording
A refused upload now leaves your recording in place with a reason on screen, so you can press Upload again. Starting a new recording also clears the interrupted one you walked away from.
You record audio on the recording page, press Upload, and the page tells you it worked. Until now that message appeared even when the audio never reached us, and the recording was thrown away with it.
Upload refused, recording kept
When an upload is turned down, whether you are out of credits or the file was refused for its name, size or type, you now see a red notice explaining why. Your recording stays where it is, and the Upload button is still there for another attempt. Chief drops the audio only once the server confirms it has the file.
Retrying the same recording
An upload that stopped part way used to leave a trace that made your next attempt look like a duplicate, so the retry was refused too. The same recording under the same name now goes through.
Interrupted recordings cleared
After a crash, the recording page offers your interrupted recording back with Recover and Discard. Pressing Record instead of choosing hid the offer but kept the audio, so the same old recording came back on every later visit and they stacked up in your browser. Starting a new recording now clears it for good.
If an upload has ever gone quiet on you, try it again: you will either get the asset or get told why not, and the audio is still yours either way.
