Live Session app v1.1.34: Open any tag as a live view of everything it marks

Tags open as live views you can keep as columns, Chief spells names your project's way, documents drop into live sessions, Custom Integrations connect from a card, offers go to Chief after a call, and Windows gets region screenshots, shortcuts and wider call detection. Fixes cover Collaborate links, handoffs, session names, session moves, canvas mockups and bundle names.

Tags on a session used to be labels you could filter the Notes by one at a time, with no way to see everything a tag touched across the transcript, chats and documents.

Today, we're adding tag views, along with names spelled the way your project spells them, documents dropped into a live session, easier Custom Integrations and prompt defaults, after-call offers with screen choice, and a round of Windows work.

Tag views

Click a tag and Chief opens a view of everything that carries it: points, notes, highlights, chats, documents, canvases, findings and offers. Add or remove tags, choose All of or Any of, and filter by kind.

The view updates live, marks new arrivals, opens each row's source, and has Copy and Ask Chief. Drag a tag or pick Open as column to keep a view beside your notes, and it stays in your layout.

Tags on a point sit in one line of chips. Chief draws its own tags with a dashed outline, and you can keep or remove them.

The point menu lists its tags and the ones you can add, with favorites and recently used first and a search once there are more than six. The Notes tag strip takes several tags at once with All of or Any of.

The host can retag or remove a highlight, and documents, canvases, findings and offers can now carry tags. Auto-apply Tags also tag highlights and chats.

Send to… from a tag view hands off only the items the view shows, without the full transcript.

Names spelled your way

Chief now hears the names of calendar attendees, project members, and people from Slack and Notion the way your project spells them. For any name it still gets wrong, highlight it in the transcript, pick Write as…, and type the right spelling. Chief confirms with "Saved to project memory" and uses the correction from the next session on.

A correction applies to the whole project and rewrites every match, so use it for names. It does not change transcripts already recorded or uploaded, and editing the pinned memory on the web breaks the correction.

Documents in a live session

Drop a document onto the transcript, or pick one with the File button, and Chief adds it to the project library, shows a row at that point in the transcript, and uses it as context for the session. Files can be up to 25MB.

A question asked seconds after a drop may not find the document yet. Transcript copy and download and agent handoffs leave dropped documents out, actions that run on new files do not fire for them, and people who joined through a Collaborate link can add images only.

Custom Integrations and prompt defaults

MCP servers are now called Custom Integrations by MCP Servers. If a request needs a tool you haven't connected, Chief shows a card above its answer to connect it. The voice, skills and public data pickers each have a Use for new tasks button, and a task keeps the choices from its last message.

Previous voice, skills and public data choices reset to Chief Expert, no skills and public data on until you save a default. Owners set up integrations on the organization's Integrations page in the web app.

Offers answered after calls

Anyone who can edit the project can now give Chief an offer nobody answered during a call, or dismiss it, after the call ends.

If the host's device stopped before saving an offer, answering it afterward shows that the offer no longer exists. If someone other than the host takes an offer after the call, the new to-do appears in their view after they reopen the session.

The screen context menu now shows which app Chief is reading or last read, and on a setup with more than one screen you can pick the screen Chief reads. See Sharing screen context.

If the chosen screen disconnects, Chief reads nothing and shows "Saved screen (not connected)" until it returns or you pick Any screen.

Author badges in documents now show two-letter initials beside the text, visible without a hover.

Chief on Windows

Screenshots on Windows let you drag to select a region first. Esc, right-click or switching away cancels.

Global shortcuts now work on Windows, shown as Ctrl+Win combinations, with defaults on Ctrl+Win: G screenshot, E markup, U and I upload, K sketch, P pause and J open Chief. A combination another app holds shows as unavailable in Settings.

Chief now offers to take notes for Microsoft Teams, Slack, Webex and browser calls on Windows, not only Zoom, and detects Firefox calls on macOS and Windows. The meeting card has a ··· menu with Dismiss for now, Never show this for an app, and Never show this again; Settings → Reset clears those choices. The tray menu has Settings….

Fixes

  • People who joined through a Collaborate link saw chat controls the server then refused. Chief now hides or disables Chat, Ask Chief and highlight-to-ask for them, a refused chat ends with an error, and once the host adds them to the project, tags and chat appear without rejoining.
  • Collaborator links copied from Chief now open the desktop app, and the web share page has an Open in Chief app button.
  • Leaving and rejoining a session left a second, dead session bar. Only one bar shows now.
  • Chats sometimes showed only the latest reply. The first prompt and earlier turns now appear.
  • Handoffs always opened in Terminal. Settings → Handoffs now has a Terminal picker for Terminal, iTerm2 or Ghostty, the Send to AI buttons no longer clip their labels, and the Command field grows past one line.
  • Notes in handoffs, Download and Copy now carry their tag names, and the handoff folder lists the session's tags.
  • The desktop app kept a placeholder title after a call while the web app showed the generated name. The desktop app now picks up the same name.
  • Sending a session to an AI agent needed the session to have ended and failed right after Stop. The live session bar has a Send to AI button again, a mid-call send goes out as the meeting so far, and a send right after Stop waits for the save.
  • Moving a session to another project left its documents and canvases in the old project's knowledge base. They now move with it; if a document is still updating, Chief asks you to try again in a few minutes.
  • Web mockups on a canvas showed as blank boxes in session snapshots and Download PNG. They now show their content, and Chief tells you when it could not draw one.
  • Downloaded session bundles had a generic name. They are now named after the session, as "session name - Chief Live Sessions App.zip".
  • After watching someone else's session, the review screen offered tagging and document generation that then failed, and showed a credits counter. It now stays read-only for you.
  • The handoff text for coding agents now points to reading the transcript a page at a time.

Update to 1.1.34 and click any tag on a point to open its view. Documents and canvases in a Live Session covers the rest of the session.
