Live Session app v1.1.31: Confirm before a live session ends
Stopping a live session now asks you to confirm, updates wait until your recording is over, and Auto-apply Tags replace the fixed To-dos, Decisions and Context buckets. Windows gets fixes for drawing, typing into the highlight popup, and saved file extensions.
Pressing Stop used to arm a faint second press, and more than once a session that looked ended was still recording. This build makes ending a session a deliberate, visible choice, and puts the same care around updates that arrive mid-call.
Stop confirmation
Pressing Stop opens a red confirmation asking whether to end the session. You pick Keep recording or End session, and the result is never ambiguous. A second click on End session no longer risks overwriting the session you just ended.
Updates during a recording
An update that becomes ready while you are recording now gives you two buttons: restart when the session ends, or restart now. Choose the first and Chief holds the update, then applies it once your recording is over. Chief also refuses to install while you are hosting a live session, so an update can no longer cut a recording short and lose what it had not yet saved.
On Windows, installing an update reopens Chief for you. You no longer have to hunt for the shortcut after the installer finishes.
Auto-apply Tags
To-dos, Decisions and Context are now three tags your project starts with rather than three fixed buckets. You can write your own tag, give it a sentence saying what it should match, and Chief applies it to the points in the summary that fit. Editing that sentence changes what the tag picks up.
Activity and summary cues
The Activity tab shows a red dot and a count of unseen items when you are reading another tab, and clears both the moment you look at Activity. Both columns now also show the jump pill when something new arrives while you have scrolled away, so you can get to the newest item in one click.
Accepting an offer used to make it vanish. The offer now stays where it was, shows Answered, Chief is working, or Couldn't finish, and carries an Open the chat link straight to the result. The Needs you count leaves answered offers out, so it stays an honest tally.
Canvas shortcuts
Each canvas tool has a single-key shortcut: V select, P pencil, M marker, T text, N note, R rectangle, O ellipse, A arrow, C comment. The toolbar shows a shortcut only when you hover a button, so the bar stays quiet while you work.
Fixes
Saving a canvas PNG on Windows wrote a file with no extension, and double-clicking it opened nothing. Asset downloads, session bundles, generated media and presentation PDFs all lost their extension the same way. Exported files now keep their extension and open on a double-click.
The canvas pencil and marker drew nothing with a pen or a touchscreen on Windows. Both now draw, and a second finger no longer interrupts a stroke already in progress.
Highlighting transcript text on Windows raised the chat bubble, but the field took no keystrokes. Typing or pasting now lands in the field, including characters typed with AltGr.
Adding an image, a note or a marked-up screenshot to a transcript left the view where it was. Chief now scrolls to the item you just added, while a collaborator's image leaves your position alone.
The send-to-agent dialog opened on Any chat app. It now opens with Chief selected, and every other destination is still one click away.
A device that lost hosting could still type into the session context or delete a screen-context chip, and those edits were silently thrown away or later published over the new host's version. Those edits are now refused with a clear message.
Who is on which document updates as it happens instead of catching up a few seconds later.
Install this build and the next time you reach for Stop, you will know exactly what happened.
