Live Session app v1.1.22: Keep capturing on Windows when a mic drops out
Windows sessions now recover on their own when a microphone or system audio device stops responding, and a diagnostics report tells you which device failed instead of looking identical to a healthy session.
If you run Chief on Windows, a microphone that dropped out mid meeting used to stay dropped for the rest of the session, and the log you sent us said nothing about it. This build fixes both halves of that.
Windows audio recovery
A microphone or speaker that failed to open, or went away partway through a call, left that side of the session silent until you restarted. Chief now keeps trying that device and picks it back up once it comes back, so a headset you unplug and plug in again returns on its own.
After a microphone outage on Windows, echo cancellation used to stay knocked out of alignment for the rest of the call, which meant echo came back and your own speech got quieter. Chief now realigns the two sides when a device returns, so speech stays at full volume and echo stays suppressed.
Diagnostics reports that name the device
Sending a diagnostics report after a session with no audio used to produce something indistinguishable from a session where everything worked. The report now records which device failed to start and what the system said about it, along with how much audio each source produced, so we can tell a dead microphone from a muted one.
