Connect GitHub and ask Chief about issues, PRs and discussions
Chief can now search your GitHub issues, pull requests and discussions alongside your other sources, and file or update issues for you once you confirm.
You have been switching to GitHub to check whether an issue was ever filed, who closed a pull request, or what a discussion concluded, then bringing that context back into Chief by hand. GitHub now sits alongside Notion, Slack and Linear as a connected source.
GitHub connection setup
If you own your organization in Chief, you connect GitHub by pasting the credentials for a GitHub App your organization owns. Chief does not publish an app of its own, so the access stays under your control and you can revoke it in GitHub at any time.
Per-project repository picker
After connecting, you choose which repositories each project can see. A project working on one product does not pull in the rest of your organization, and you can change the selection later.
Issues, pull requests and discussions in answers
Chief reads your issues, pull requests and discussions and cites them in answers the way it cites your documents. Ask what shipped in a repo last quarter or why a change was reverted, and you get the answer with links back to the source.
Filing and updating issues from chat
Ask Chief to open an issue, add a comment or update an existing one, and it shows you a confirmation card with what it is about to write. Nothing reaches GitHub until you approve it.
Head to your organization settings to connect GitHub, then pick repositories for the projects that need them.
