Deleted files, messages and labels stop coming back
Deleting something in Chief now removes it everywhere you would run into it again: downloads, share links, chat search, label names, saved views and your project list.
You delete a file, a message, a label or a whole project, and it disappears from the screen in front of you. Until now it could still turn up elsewhere: a download link that kept working, a search hit quoting text you removed, a label name you could not use again. These deletions now hold everywhere.
Deleted file links
A deleted file used to keep working for anyone holding its link. You could still download it, extract from it, clone it into another project, or rename it. Now Chief tells you the file is not found on any of those paths, matching what the library and search already showed you.
Public links on deleted projects
Deleting a project left any public share links minted from its files resolving for anyone on the internet, with no sign-in. Deleting a project now revokes those links. If you move a file to another project, its public link travels with it and stays live where the file now lives.
Deleted messages in chat search
Deleting one prompt and response from a chat removed it from the conversation but left its text in chat search, snippet and all, for anyone in the project. Deleted messages no longer appear in search results, and the assistant no longer reads them back to you.
Label names you can reuse
Deleting a label named Taxes used to block you from creating Taxes again in the same project, and files moved or copied in landed on the deleted label and showed no label at all. You can now reuse the name, and moved or copied files attach to the live label.
Saved views and the project list
A saved view built on a label kept including files after you removed that label from them; those files now drop out of the view. Deleted projects also stop appearing in your list of projects to switch into and stop being handed back as the project you are working in when you sign in.
Delete something and it stays deleted. If you shared a file out of a project you no longer need, deleting the project is now enough to cut off access.
