Capture pages and sign in from the extension side panel
The browser extension's side panel now brings back your ingested pages, captures pages with GIFs, and tells you when a sign-in attempt fails instead of leaving you stuck.
If you have been using the browser extension, you may have reopened the side panel to an empty list, watched a capture spin forever, or pressed a sign-in button that greyed out and never came back. Those paths now work, and the ones that fail say so.
Your ingested pages in the panel
Reopening the side panel used to show nothing under your ingested pages, even for a page you captured yesterday. The panel now loads the pages you have already ingested into the current project.
Pages containing GIFs
Capturing a page with a GIF on it left the button stuck in its capturing state with no PDF, no upload and no error, and closing the panel was the only way out. Chief now converts those images on the way into the PDF, so the capture finishes and transparency survives.
Magic link and Google sign-in errors
Asking for a magic link that the sign-in service refused still showed "Check your email", and no mail ever arrived. Dismissing or refusing the Google consent window left "Continue with Google" greyed out with no message.
Both cases now return you to the sign-in form with the reason shown, and you can try again. A Google retry asks for a fresh grant, so an expired or revoked approval no longer fails the same way twice.
Chief's own pages
The panel used to offer to ingest Chief's own pages, filing the app's interface into your project as though it were an article, and the "Chat" button landed on a page it did not recognise. The extension now recognises Chief on its current address, skips those pages, and shows the "Chatting with this page" card when you open chat for a captured page.
Sign-out on a shared install
Signing out of the extension left later activity attached to the account that just left. Your identity is now cleared when you sign out, including sign-outs you did not ask for, and across every open side panel.
Update to the latest version of the extension and reopen the side panel to pick these up.
