Open long chats faster and pick up a dropped answer on its own
Long chats with agents and tools open at the latest message and stream without garbled words, an answer interrupted by a dropped connection resumes where it left off, and the answer's action row drops the edit-this-answer link. Fixes cover spreadsheet questions that never returned and the Library showing another project's files.
Long chats full of agents and tools took a while to open and grew sluggish as an answer streamed in. Words sometimes came out garbled mid-answer, and a dropped connection could leave the Stop Generating button on screen with nothing arriving.
Today, we're shipping faster, steadier chat streaming, along with a reworked action row under answers and fixes to spreadsheet questions and the Library.
Faster-opening long chats
A chat opens scrolled to the latest message, and a finished last answer opens with its activity collapsed, so you reach the newest part of a long chat sooner. Long answers, tables and lists stream in smoothly to the end instead of slowing down as they grow.
Words arrive in order. The garbled text that could appear partway through an answer is gone.
Interrupted answers resume
If your connection drops while Chief is answering, Chief picks the answer back up where it left off. The Stop Generating button clears once the answer finishes. Regenerating or stopping a response covers the button.
Fixes
- A question about a spreadsheet with ten or more sheets used to hang without an answer. Chief now returns the answer.
- After you switched projects, the Library sometimes listed the previous project's files, and opening one showed "Asset not found". The Library now shows only the current project's files, and the prompt bar file picker does too.
Open your longest chat to see it load. Performance & speed tips covers other ways to keep Chief fast.
