Create tags that apply themselves to your live sessions
Write one sentence for what a tag should cover and Chief applies it, with To-dos, Decisions and Context now editable tags; Chief opens with recent sessions listed, failed MCP actions offer Reconnect, and Live Session chat quotes shrink. Fixes cover Slack answers, pairing, the agent timeline, pasting, billing, the prompt bar, concepts, links and Integrations settings.
Live Sessions sorted everything into To-dos, Decisions and Context, three buckets you could not rename or add to, and any tag of your own had to go on each item by hand.
Today, we're adding Auto-apply Tags, along with recent sessions listed at startup, a Reconnect button for MCP accounts, and compact highlighted quotes in Live Session chat.
Auto-apply Tags
Open Tags from the tag button in the session header and write one sentence describing what the tag covers. Chief reads the session summary against that sentence and applies the tag for you, including to what was said before you made the tag. A Generate option writes the sentence from the tag's name, or sharpens the one you started.
To-dos, Decisions and Context are now the three Auto-apply Tags every project starts with, so you can rename them, recolor them or switch them off. A copied summary uses the names you gave them.
The tag list shows each tag's sentence and how much it holds, and you can search it, sort it by name or use, and filter to Smart, Manual, Favorites or Unused. Picking New tag while tagging a highlight puts the new tag on that highlight.
A tag you apply by hand stays yours, and a tag you take off stays off. Only project members who can edit see the tag button; guests do not.
Ways to use Auto-apply Tags
- Customer objections you want to track: write a tag that matches pricing pushback and review it after calls.
- A team with its own vocabulary: rename Decisions to what your team calls them and recolor it.
- A late realization mid-call: create a tag now and let Chief apply it to the whole call.
Recent sessions at startup
Chief opens faster and settles on its first screen at once, with your recent sessions and projects already listed. Opening a past session is quicker, and hovering one before you click starts loading it.
Reconnect for MCP accounts
Approved MCP actions no longer fail with a permission error after your connection refreshes. If your own connection is why an action failed, the card names the server and offers a Reconnect button that signs you in again on the spot.
The MCP rows in Settings → Integrations now show Reconnect on healthy connections too, so you can re-authorize without disconnecting first. An integration disconnected or won't sync covers the rest.
Compact highlighted quotes
Highlighted transcript text at the top of a Live Session chat shows as a compact quote card that expands on hover, with a Jump to the transcript link below it, leaving more room for the chat thread.
Fixes
- Chief could end a Slack reply with "I finished without producing an answer" and drop images it made. It now answers in the thread, posts its images, and no longer shows its Slack instructions as part of your message.
- The pairing screen and browser approval page called every machine a Mac. They now say "Connect this PC" on Windows and "Connect this Mac" on a Mac.
- After you approved pairing in the browser, Chief stayed in the background. It now comes to the front.
- Search and load-task steps in an agent task showed a raw tool name, and a session search with no results left a blank row. They show a real name and icon, and empty searches drop out.
- Pasting a multi-line Slack message or a list into the action prompt editor flattened it into one line. The lines and lists now survive.
- The Manage plan button in the command palette opened a billing portal with nothing in it for internally assigned plans. It now offers a credit refill instead.
- The prompt bar on the project home page moved while improvement suggestions generated. It stays put.
- Opening a concept right after creating it showed "Error loading concept timeline". The timeline opens.
- A live-session link you could not open showed a crash screen. The page now says the session doesn't exist or you don't have access.
- The Connect Chief to Channels card in chat answers filled the answer and ended in an empty "Screenshot coming soon" box. It is compact, spaced below Connect Slack, and the box is gone.
- Opening Settings → Integrations directly showed an empty MCP section. It lists your connected servers.
- Chats whose follow-up suggestions mention skills could crash. They load.
Open a live session and click the tag button in the header to write your first Auto-apply Tag. Auto-generated summaries, decisions, action items & task suggestions covers what the summary holds.
