Write notes, tag highlights and paste text into a live session

Highlighting transcript text now gives you a choice: ask the agent, or write your own note. You can also type or paste text straight into the transcript, and it travels with your exports.

Until now, highlighting a passage in a live session did one thing: it started an agent turn. You had no way to write something down in your own words mid-call, and no way to drop a snippet of text into the record. Screenshots were the only thing you could add.

Notes on a highlight

Select transcript text during a session and you can write a note against it instead of asking the agent. The note sits in the Summary panel alongside the topic it belongs to, marked as yours. Chief keeps it out of the model, so a note is your writing and stays that way.

Shared tags

Tag a highlight or a chat with your project's tags, and everyone on the project sees the same set. Rename a tag or change its colour and the change shows everywhere it has been applied, including on past sessions. Tags applied in a session stay separate from the labels your Notion and Zoom syncs attach to files.

Typed and pasted text in the transcript

The transcript now carries a footer with two zones: one for images, one for text. Type into the text zone, or press Cmd+V with text on your clipboard and the zone opens holding it, ready for you to confirm or cancel. Pasting text used to do nothing at all. What you add appears in the transcript as a quoted block at the point you added it, with its timecode.

Line breaks survive, so a stack trace or a pasted list arrives readable rather than flattened onto one line.

Pasted text in exports and handoffs

Text you pinned during a session used to disappear when you exported the transcript or handed the session to an agent. Copying and downloading now carry it, in Markdown, plain text and Word, in the order you added it relative to screenshots and spoken turns. An agent handoff includes it too, whether or not you send the screenshots.

Writing notes, applying tags and pinning text happen in the Chief desktop app during the call. Open the session in the web app afterwards and you will see all of it in the Summary panel and transcript, ready to copy or download.
